FAMOUS ARTISTS  (Ages 6+) *6-week session
Examples: Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Matisse, Kahlo, Hokusai, etc.
Each week our drawings will be inspired by a different master artist. Students will practice the Monart drawing method and will learn fascinating facts about the artist's history and unique techniques. Our non-competitive, non-judgmental environment will encourage artists of all abilities to learn that drawing is a teachable skill at which everyone can be successful and that there are NO MISTAKES in art. Students will be shown how to use various mediums such as watercolor, oil pastels, colored pencils, markers, and more.

This class will teach students to independently recognize the five elements of shape in the world around them. Students will develop several important skills including hand-eye coordination, fine-motor skill, focus, concentration, planning ahead and making independent choices. Students will step beyond simple 2-dimensional drawing with 3-dimensional drawing concepts such as perspective and foreshortening.

A step up from Basic Drawing, this class is an introduction to several fine art skills such as shading, light logic, texture, vanishing point perspective and proportion. Students will continue to build artistic confidence and the ability to make independent and creative choices in their composition. This class will help students work toward developing independent drawing skills.

A step up from Drawing Fundamentals, this class teaches experienced artists a variety of advanced drawing and painting techniques. Each student will receive some interactive one-on-one instruction and feedback in addition to general group instruction. Everyone can learn how to draw and paint realistically using these classic skills and techniques that have been taught since the Renaissance.
